About Me

My name is Kate Zemans, and I am an aspiring college student. My decision to attend college was heavily influenced by my family. Both my parents graduated from college. Although, I also have my own personal goals concerning my passions and careers I would like to pursue, which I will have a much better shot at accomplishing with a college education. My biggest passion in life is 2D art and animation, and my dream would be attending an art school that can fully prepare me to enter the profession world of art and design.

Life Roles

My most important life roles are daughter, sister, 3rd generation scholar. My family is a big part of my life, as I am very close with my mother, and good friends with my brother. They influence everything I do and have shaped who I am. I am also very lucky to be able to call myself a 3rd generation scholar, with the support of my parents and grandparents who have succeeded in college themselves.

Mesa & Me

During my time at Mesa, I've discovered a lot about the school's culture as I continuously try to get integrated with it myself. I've gone to a couple campus events to try and get familiar with the student body, one being the Associated Student's Thanksgiving Feast event on November 21st. It was really pleasing to see an event orchestrated by students, for students. I'd never been exposed to that before, as I am still in high school, events are always organized by staff (along with ASB). Although I didn't eat any of the food, taking part in such a welcoming environment of students doing good was something that definitely influenced my feelings towards the students at mesa, who had before seemed more distant from myself, but were quite friendly to converse with at the event.

Additionally, through connections to a particular professor at mesa, I was able to attend a piano concert with one of her current students, featuring said professor and another mesa professor who played for an audience. I have been interested for a while now in taking a piano class here at mesa, and I was really pleased to be able to speak to one of the piano professors in person after the show and ask her some questions, as well as get to know her a little better.
