Career and Educational Pathway

Formative Experiences

During my time attending Renaissance Village Academy, I learned many useful skills many schools did not teach to young children, such as cooking, gardening, and social and emotional skills. The gardening, for example, took place every Tuesday for around 3 hours, where every student would help out around the campus garden and were instructed on how to properly treat the plants. Because of the unique style of the school, when I was in 3rd grade I was very mentally mature and almost over prepared for the coming years of elementary school.

Later on in my life, in middle school, I attended SDCCS where I met Ms. Belle, the school's art teacher. This was around the time I was discovering my passion for art and I ended up forming a great relationship with her, since I really enjoyed her class. Eventually I started coming after school and helping her come up with projects for the younger classes and assisting her with anything else she needed. During my free period(s) I would often go over to her class and help teach 2nd-3rd graders the fundamentals of art. I've never really wanted to be a teacher, but working with the kids was surprisingly enjoyable and taught me a lot about myself, and I'm very glad I got that opportunity to explore my passions in the form of teaching.
